Autumn Makeup and Beauty Essentials

Hey everyone,

Recently, the weather has been changing, it's been getting much colder outside and the leaves have been changing colour and falling....so we all know what this means...its now AUTUMN! I love autumn as it gives a chance to finally transition over to wearing dark berry colours and warmer toned clothes and makeup. Although there are many beautiful things about autumn, we are still faced with cold weather, which does tend to dry out our skin and lips too...so in this blog post...I'll be going over some of my favourites to deal with dry skin, lips and my favourite makeup products to go to.

No.1
Lip Balm - As we all know, with this colder weather our lips often get very chapped and dry...so any lip balm will do the job for keeping your lips soft and moisturised in preparation for the harsh winter ahead. Lip balm is very inexpensive and easy to find and on top of having soft lips they can also come tinted to work as a two in one lipgloss and adds colour!

No. 2
Fern Cotton Eyeshadow Palette- I've been in love with wearing berry colours and smokey brown eyes recently...and this palette covers every autumn colour you need.

No.3
Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette - I've also been using my Naked 3 palette a lot recently, more of the darker colours this time, towards the right side of the palette. Especially the shades factory and blackheart.

No. 4
Neom Organic Hand Lotion - I've been getting back into using hand creams again to prevent my hands from getting dry and I've been using the Neom Organic Hand Lotion in "Sicilian Lemon & Fresh Basil". This hand lotion comes with a pump so is easy to sit on the desk and when you're sitting there, its easy to access and apply a small amount.

No.5
Elf Contouring Blush and Bronzer kit - I've seen many different contouring kits out there, but this seems to be one of my favourites. The blush although it looks very bright pink, when applied give a more warmer, pale brick red colour. The bronzer is also an everyday essential which I apply after setting my foundation. Both the blush and the bronzer have a slight sparkle to them, so when applied it leaves your face glimmering, rather than looking matte.

No. 6
Topshop Sunbeam Highlight - I got this as a gift a little while ago now and I don't use it as often as I should, but now after coming across it in my makeup drawer, I reach for it when I want to spice up my look. It adds a perfect amount of shimmer and gives a different dimension to an everyday look.

No.7
Rimmel Apocalips Lipgloss - In "Nude Eclipse 600", I often pair the dark berry eyeshadow colours with a nude lipgloss or lipstick for a more everyday look and this rimmel lipgloss is perfect and long lasting.

No. 8
Lancome Juicy Tube Lipgloss - The other alternative to a nude is a simple, clear lipgloss. Like this lancome one, mine came from a set a while ago so i'm, unclear of the name, but a clear lip gloss is definately an essential for autumn...any season really.

No. 9
new CID Three in One Lip Wand -  I think this product is absolutely brilliant for any season, all year round. It has everything you need for the perfect lip...a lip liner...lipstick and lipgloss! It's much easier to pop in your handbag then trying to find 3 separate products to pair together.

and finally....

No.10
Models Prefer Lip Gloss - This final product is something that's come back into fashion recently...brown lipgloss/lipstick. As we all know, brown lips were a big thing in the 90s and they've been brought back ...so why not rock it this autumn?

Thank you so much for reading! I hope that you enjoyed this blog post...see you in the next one :)

Beauty Wishlist

Hey everyone,

So i've noticed lately that there are a lot of new and old things out there to buy that I've been wanting for a long time or would love to try out... so I thought i'd put it all together and show you and it might tickle your fancy :D

Lets get into it...

1. Benefit Lollitint -

So I've seen this quite a few times recently and didn't realise it existed until a few weeks ago but now I've found it I would definitely love to get it in the future! It is another one of Benefit's lip and cheek stains and its in this pretty girly pink colour. I already have Benefit's highbeam and benetint and i'm very pleased with the consistency of them and how they blend out easily.

2. Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush -

My mum has quite a few of these watercolour blushes and they are very pretty and so much easier to blend than regular cream blushes. I love all of the shades of these blushes but the one that caught my eye was the blush in the shade 'Charm'. It's such a natural pinky peach colour and one that I would opt to wear on an everyday basis.

3. Mac Pro Longwear Paint Pot in 'Painterly' -

I've seen Mac's paint pots around for such a long time now and I still haven't got around to getting any but if I were to get a shade, I would definitely opt for 'Painterly'. It looks like such a good neutral base that will cover up any extra redness that concealer doesn't cover up and will give any eye product something to cling to and not slide about or rub off.

4. Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquer in 'Apocalyptic' -

Another thing that I'd love to treat myself to is one of the Rimmel Apocalips lip lacquers in the shade 'Apocalyptic'. Out of all of the shades this one stood out to me and its not just because its one of the brightest hehe... I like to sometimes mix up what I wear on my lips and this fuchsia pink is definitely something I would want to make work.

5. Sleek Brow Kit in 'Light' -

At the moment, I don't often do a lot with my eyebrows only really filling them in a little bit with an eye shadow but I would definitely like to purchase something like this sleek brow kit to get myself into a routine of filling them in and making them look sleek. (haha pardon the pun)

6. Happy Light Luminous Serum Primer -

I don't own many primers but whilst I was out in superdrugs a few weeks ago, I spotted this and nearly brought it and definitely regret that I put it back. I think if I started to wear a primer under my makeup it will last much longer.

7. OPI Matte Top Coat -

I've seen many different matte top coats out there that bloggers and youtubers have reviewed but in my opinion this OPI one looked the best with all of the swatches. It's also from a brand I know well and have tried out many if their products.

8. Revlon Matte Balm -

I've seen this online quite a bit and I'd love to get some and try them out... I own a few jumbo balm sticks and some matte lip lipsticks but never the two different things in one product. I can't pick a colour but I love the one in the picture I chose which is a deep plumy colour.

9. Eos lip balm -

I've had an eos lip balm before ... I think I owned the strawberry scented one and it really helped moisturise my lips and make them softer especially during the winter. Again I don't might which one I'd get and the one in the picture I think is the sweet mint one.

10. Maybelline Colour Tattoo in 'Metallic Pomegranate' -

Finally... This is another base product haha but I already have the 'rose gold' pinky shade (I think that's what it's called) I think last year dark reds and plum colours really came into fashion and I still of it and this is something I wanted to get then but just didn't get round to getting it.

I hope you enjoyed reading this :D sorry for my absence on here but I've had a lot of schoolwork to catch up on and I've been trying to get back into the routine of writing blog posts x

How much is your face worth?

Hey everyone,

So I saw this post on this blog the other day and I thought that it was a good blog post idea...

http://apinchofshaz.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/how-much-is-your-face-worth.html

So you basically have to add up the makeup which you are wearing on your face at the moment and see how much it all comes to and that will be the how much your face is worth. So lets get into it...

Benefit Total Moisture Facial Cream = £27.50
Maybelline Age Rewind concealer = £7.99
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder = £3.99
Benefit Creasless Cream Shadow in Bikini-tini = £15.50
Collection work the colour solo eye shadow in Rosy Gold = £2.19
Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof eye liner in Nude = £3.99
Sleek eye shadow limited edition sparkle palette = £7.99
Sleek face contour kit = £6.49
Rimmel blush in Santa Rosa = £4.00
MUA undress me highlighter = £3.00
W7 77 eye shadow palette = £14.00
Bourjois Liner Feutre in Ultra Black = £6.99
Lancôme Mascara = £0.00 = freebie :)
Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Punch = £2.99
Mac Sheen Supreme lipstick in Royal Azalea = £15.50

Grand Total = £122.12

Wow... I didn't expect it to be this much! I don't use that many high end products so I'm very surprised that all of these drugstore products added up to something that big.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post and I'd love to see how much your face is worth haha :)

P.S. I hope that you like that I'm trying to post more often... I feel that I'm finally getting into the routine of writing more posts x

I ♥ Drugstore Makeup Tag

Hey everyone,

So I saw Gabriella (velvetgh0st on youtube) do this tag recently :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=By7zne-U_k0

So I thought that I'd have a go at answering the questions. I'm not sure if there are any other versions of this tag or if there are different questions but these are the ones which she had answered in her video.

So lets get into it.....

Question 1.

What is your favourite drugstore make-up brand overall?

There are a few drugstore make-up brands that I like to buy from and I used to get a lot from Revlon especially there Lip butters but lately,  I tend to buy from Rimmel and Maybelline. So I'd have to say that overall, my favourite drugstore make-up brand is Maybelline. Their colour tattoos are beautiful and I love the baby lips.

Question 2.

What are your favourite face/cheek/ lip products?

I have to say that one of my favourite face products has to be the Maybelline Anti-Age The Eraser Eye concealer, which I mentioned in my August Favourites a few months ago. Read here. I use this product everyday and it gives such good coverage to my under eye circles and any little blemishes that you'd like to cover up.

To go with this concealer, I have another drugstore favourite and it is the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder. I use this everyday on top of my concealer to prevent it from creasing and it also helps to make my make-up stay on for longer and doesn't feel heavy or caked at all and is such a bargain.

My favourite drugstore cheek product has to be the Rimmel Lasting Finish Soft Colour Blush in Santa Rose. This blush is so pretty and natural on my skin and gives my skin a slight rose tint.

I have many, many favourite lip products from drugstores because I tend to buy drugstore lip products rather than high end because they are still of such good quality from drugstore brands. However, some of my favourite lip products are lipsticks, like the Revlon Lip Butters.

But recently, in the fall I like to wear darker colours and in my recent blog post about Autumn/fall lipsticks, read here, I showed the Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Matte Lipsticks. These have to be some of my favourite lipsticks that I've owned and last for a long time on my lips as said in the name and they are also very matte which I tend to opt for in a lipstick rather than it having a sheen.

My final favourite lip products have to be the Maybelline Baby Lips. I know many people have mentioned these multiple times before but they really are such a good, affordable product.

Question no.3

What is your least favourite drugstore makeup product?

There really aren't many products that I don't like but if I had to name one it would have to be the Maybelline Colossal Cat Eyes Mascara. I brought this mascara at the time when it was very popular but after a short time, it dried up and would work as well and I felt that it didn't coat my eyelashes very well.

Question no.4

What is your biggest makeup bargain?

I have to say that my biggest makeup bargain was the MUA Undress Me Highlighter which I brought for only £3 from superdrugs. This highlighter is so pigmented for such a cheap price and is such a pretty colour. I'd have to say overall, all of the MUA makeup is such a great bargain at such a low price but the quality of the makeup is very good and highly pigmented.

Question no.5

What is your favourite underdog product (something that gets overlooked)?

I'm not totally sure what this means but I love the sleek eye shadow palettes! They are so pigmented and very affordable.

Question no.6

A drugstore product that is overpriced?

I can't think of an individual product that is overpriced but I think that some types of drugstore products are overpriced like some facial moisturisers and some cleansers.

Question no.7

Show your best drugstore dupes...

Well, I only found one close dupe in my makeup collection and this drugstore lipstick is very similar but isn't as matte. The high end lipstick is the Mac Riri Woo lipstick which I featured in my Autumn/Fall Lipsticks post and the drugstore dupe if the Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick in 111 Kiss of Life.

These two lipsticks are very similar but I think the Rimmel lipstick is slightly more orange.

Question no.8

A drugstore product that isn't worth the hype?

I think that the Maybelline mascaras weren't worth the hype, I brought the Colossal Cat Eyes mascara by Maybelline at the time because they were very hyped about but when I was using it, it dried up very quickly and wasn't very useful anymore. However, the packaging was cute though haha :)

Fall/Autumn Lipsticks

Hey everyone,

So we are in fall/autumn right now (whatever you would like to call it ) and I just love wearing darker/more statement lip colours. I thought that I'd share with you the ones that I have been loving and what I would recommend to you.

If you love wearing darker/more statement makeup in fall/autumn as well... leave me a comment telling me your favourite lipsticks and other beauty products. I would love to know :)

So the first one that I have been using most frequently is one that I got for my birthday around about last week. It is the Riri Mac Lipstick in 'Riri Woo':

I love this lipstick so much! I know it's quite bright... but it is a gorgeous red and I absolutely love the packaging! I love the fact that it is matte... I tend to wear matte lipsticks rather than shiny. It came off very easily from my hand and lips leaving a barely even noticeable stain.

❤ ❤

The next lipstick is dark pink which I have been loving.... I've had it for a while now so I'm not sure if you can still get it or not... It is Urban Decay Lipstick in 'Jilted'.

I love the packaging, It has a little sword in the top which you open it by which is very sturdy and has never come out.

The pattern on the packaging is also very appealing, it had swirls, butterflies and even some skulls all in different shade of purple which look very pretty.

Altogether, Urban Decay did a really good job on designing this lipstick which is one of the reasons why I wear it so often, I wouldn't say it is very pigmented because it is a little sheer, it also has a bit of a sheen and has a good scent to it....

❤ ❤

This next lipstick is also another red.... but this one is the Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick in 111 or 'Kiss of Life'.

I already said about the Mac Riri red lipstick but I have so many different red lipsticks that are all very different that I love to wear.

I've had this lipstick since about last year and I love to use it in the wintery/autumn seasons with a simple eye look. The packaging isn't as decorative and pretty as the ones above but it is still simple and stylish.

As you can see in my pictures, the red is a lot brighter than the Mac Riri lipstick which I had first mentioned. Although the lipstick is meant to matte, I feel that when I apply it is does have a slight sheen whereas the Mac Riri one is completely matte but... I don't mind because I still absolutely love the colour and still wear it.

❤ ❤

This next lipstick is also another red lipstick by Rimmel Kate but it is a deeper purple red in 107:

This lipstick is probably one of my very favourite lipsticks of all time and I am so glad that I had brought this. Its a deep burgundy/ wine red and it looks gorgeous with simple eye makeup and a pretty pink blush.

As you can see below, the colour is VERY pigmented and has a slight hint of a pink colour in it which adds a nice feminine touch to it.

❤ ❤

This final lipstick is a very old one by Marks and Spencer. I know Marks and Spencer aren't really a makeup brand but I still love this lipstick made by them. I got it a very long time ago so I am not sure as to whether you can get it anymore but its one that I own and love and it is 15 or 'Copper Rose'.

Its a very pretty copper shimmery colour with a glittery sheen. The packaging is very sleek and looks very stylish, especially with the small gold band.

I don't normally like shimmery lipsticks but this one I do... its almost slightly metallic.

This swatch shows the lipstick a bit lighter than what it is on my lips because the lipstick is quite sheer so it shows the base through it a bit... when I have it on my lips, its a bit more of a darker brown colour because my lips are darker than the skin on my hand.

❤ ❤

Thank you so much for reading this... I hope that you enjoyed it!
